3's CEO wins Person of the Year

The CEO of 3 Mobile, kevin Russell won 'Person of the Year' at the Mobile Industry Awards. Well done that man, and we hope he can push on 3 even further in the coming years! Below is 3's statement regarding this news.

"We at 3 are feeling rather proud today as last night our CEO Kevin Russell scooped Person of the Year at the Mobile Industry Awards.

Nominated by industry figures and peers, the award recognizes Kevin's success after just 2 years in the job, and how he's driven 3 forward to disrupt the mobile market.

The last year alone has seen 3's business push the comfort zone of the industry by bringing VoIP and free calling to the masses with the 3 Skypephone, lobbying the EU for lower roaming changes and challenging the regulators to overhaul the mobile termination rates which keep UK call charges high. And that's before we even get onto our market-leading Mobile Broadband and our network-share agreement with T-Mobile to give biggest and best network of all. All in the name of improving 3's service offering to customers.

So excuse us for blowing our own trumpets but we hope you'll join us in our celebratory mood today."

It's great to see that Kevin's endeavours to shake up the mobile phone industry have been recognised by his peers. Perhaps he can now push the comfort zone of his own company by investigating how verbally 'agreed' 12 month contracts mysteriously turn in to 18 month contracts with the 'evidence' hidden behind data protection.

I wouldn't know about this really but if you buy a 12 month contract online I would expect it to be 12 months! I am not sure about verbal agreements...

3 also do 6 month contracts on a few handsets which are an even better deal!
